Nu Restaurant + Lounge

A leisurely walk along the seawall on the only non-rainy day of my mom's visit found us at Nu Restaurant + Lounge, a French bistro under the Granville Street Bridge and one of Harry Kambolis's collection of farm-to-table restaurants, which feature a sustainable, locally harvested and delicious menu.

They brought us some cake-like bread to start, and we shared a plate of beer-battered oysters with house-made tartar sauce.

I had the Duck Breast with Duck Confit Crêpe and plum preserves, on a bed of rapini and baby carrots.

And I had just a bite of my mom's Lacquered Cornish Game Hen with tomato jam, caramelized onion, rösti potato and goat's cheese sauce, but it was amazing. Both dishes were, in fact. I have never eaten two more delicious birds.
