Tonight I made an Indianized version of the seafood stew we made in class. Dinner cost me 16 cents (for the onion), since I already had all the other ingredients at home.
The stew-making went something like this:
1. Sweat chopped onion, green pepper and garlic.
2. Spice with garam masala, coriander, cumin seeds and sea salt.
3. Deglaze with vermouth. Let alcohol cook off, then add small can of tomato sauce, 1/2 can of whole tomatoes and a packet of Trader Joe's Dal Makhani.
4. Add some black mustard seeds because I forgot them earlier, saffron, chili flakes, and salt and pepper to taste.
5. Throw in some prawns and chunks of salmon. Let simmer about 5 minutes or until seafood is done.
