Darchin Restaurant

Last night we ate at Darchin, a new Persian restaurant that just opened up on Davie Street. We had Mast-o-Moo-Seer, a tangy dip with yogurt and shallots, and Gheimeh -- lamb stew with split yellow peas, dried Persian limes and cinnamon, served with Saffron Basmati rice. The place is endearingly decorated with faux-brick wallpaper, and the waiter brought us an extra dip on the house to sample.
